Guilherme Milhano on the 2011 highlights of Journal of Physics G

27, Jun, 2012

A paper by Guilherme Milhano on a novel mechanism leading to the quenching of jets in heavy ion collisions was selected as one of the 2011 highlights of the Journal of Physics G , ‘a special collection of papers that represents some of the excellent work published in the journal last year.’
‘The articles were selected for their presentation of outstanding new research, receipt of the highest praise from our international referees and the highest number of downloads last year.’

more good news (this time from Quark Matter)

24, May, 2012

Quark Matter 2012 will take place in Washington DC. This is the major conference in Heavy Ion Physics, and the place where new experimental results and theoretical developments are expected to be reported. The high luminosity LHC run of 2011 makes this year’s edition particularly exciting. Guilherme has been asked to present a plenary overview of the theory of jet quenching.

good news from Hard Probes programme

7, May, 2012

The programme for Hard Probes 2012 is out. Our work will be presented in 1 plenary and 4 parallel talks. Guilherme will also give one of the student introductory lectures (on the theory of jet quenching). Our collaborator Carlos Salgado has been given the hard task of presenting the theory summary at the end of the conference.

new preprint out

20, Apr, 2012

Guilherme, Andrea and Urs posted a new preprint The contribution of medium-modified color flow to jet quenching. It argues the non-negotiability of colour flow effects in jet quenching. We think this one will leave a decisive mark in the field.

Liliana’s first preprint

17, Apr, 2012

First news item for Liliana’s first preprint Medium-induced emissions of hard gluons with NĂ©stor Armesto and Carlos Salgado.
